How to be a patient: North Las Vegas Family Health Center accepts new patients. The Health Center welcomes most private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, Women’s Health Connection and Nevada Check-Up. A sliding fee schedule for low-income patients who do not have insurance is available. Identification and income information is needed to enroll in the sliding fee program.
Appointments are strongly recommended; some sites do see walk-ins for emergency needs. Call the medical center to check on walk-in availability.
Prescription Refills: Ask your pharmacist to fax your request for prescription refills to the doctor; this will speed up your refill process.
Additional Information: North Las Vegas Family Health Center opened its doors in 2000 and has a patient population of more than 3,400. It was the first medical center opened by Nevada Health Centers in the Las Vegas area. North Las Vegas Family Health Centers has had a very positive impact on the health of the local community.
Tamina Winn-McMillan, MD, an enthusiastic and compassionate, board certified pediatrician at North Las Vegas Family Health Center. Dr. McMillan received her medical degree from Meharry Medical College, Nashville, TN. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. Dr. McMillan speaks Spanish and loves watching her patients grow and flourish while positively impacting their health.
Jinsy Jacob, MD, earned her medical degree from Deakin University, in Melbourne, Australia. She completed her residency at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey and then worked as Chief Resident, Pediatrics at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is board certified in pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her special interests include: efficiency in health systems, improving clinic flow, informatics, telemedicine, using technology to deliver healthcare, childhood obesity and coordination of care for medical complex patients. She is familiar with six languages: English (native), Malayalam (advanced), Hindi (intermediate), French (basic), Arabic (reading and writing), basic medical Spanish (basic).
Joanne Leovy, MD, loves joining patients in a partnership to improve health. She has lived in Las Vegas since 2001 and enjoys hiking, biking, camping, running – anything outdoors! Dr. Leovy graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science, Biology from the University of Puget Sound. She then earned her medical degree from the University of Washington. She has been awarded the Family Practice Degree of Fellow (FAAFP) recognition for work in the community and profession.
