Health insurance is more accessible because of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Medicaid expansion in Nevada. Effective since January 2014, the ACA requires all U.S. citizens or legal residents to obtain health insurance that meets minimum essential coverage standards. If a person does not have health insurance, they may be assessed a tax fine or penalty on their income taxes.
Under the Affordable Care Act, a certified Qualified Health Plan (QHP) purchased through the Marketplace provides essential health benefits, follows established limits on cost-sharing (deductibles, copayments and out-of-pocket maximum amounts), and meets other requirements.
What information/documentation will I need to provide?
What is Medicaid?

What is Nevada Check Up?

Participants in the Nevada Check Up program are charged a quarterly premium based on income. NV Check Up enrollment is available year round.
