Nevada Medicaid Eligibility: What You Need to Know

September 30, 2026 Uncategorized

Beginning January 1, 2027, some Nevada Medicaid members will need to meet new work, volunteer, or school participation requirements to maintain their health coverage. If you receive Medicaid benefits, now is the time to learn about the upcoming changes and make sure you are prepared when the new rules take effect.

Who is exempt?

Some Medicaid members will not be required to meet the new work, volunteer, or school requirements. Exemptions include:

  • Adults age 65 and older
  • Parents of children under age 14
  • Individuals with a disability
  • Pregnant individuals
  • People with serious physical or mental health conditions
  • American Indians and Alaska Natives

Get ready and stay covered

Nevada Medicaid encourages members to take action now to avoid any interruptions in coverage.

  1. Update your contact information
Make sure Nevada Medicaid has your current mailing address, phone number, and email address. Keeping your information up to date ensures you receive important notices about your eligibility and renewal requirements.
  1. Check whether the new requirements apply to you
Review the list of exemptions and eligibility guidelines to determine whether you will be affected by the new rules.
  1. Learn what will be required
If the new requirements apply to you, take time now to understand what documentation or information may be needed to verify work, volunteer, or school participation.
  1. Know your renewal date
Do not wait until your Medicaid renewal date arrives. If you are required to meet the new participation standards, you will need to demonstrate compliance during your renewal review period.
